Data Capture was one of the first IVR services to emerge. Today, it is still one of the most popular uses for an IVR system, and with good reason. Basically, it's a service that stores data from a caller and features numerous and wide ranging applications that can significantly improve the performance of your organisation.
A typical data capture service would play an audio track to a caller. It would then go on to record the caller's name and address, and perhaps their telephone number. This information would then be made available in an easy to access format. For example, recordings can be converted to MP3 files and emailed directly to you.
Speech recognition can be used to complement data capture. It provides 'real data' rather than just a recording. For example, if a caller was to request a 'summer holiday' brochure, rather then sending a recording with 'summer holiday' in it to the service provider, the text 'summer holiday' could be sent. This type of enhanced service saves time and can considerably reduce your costs.
